In my five years of performing eyebrow embroidery (also called 3D eyebrows, hairstrokes, microblading), I get many of the same questions. Since hairstrokes are relatively new in New york anbd Miami, many people don’t know what the technique is, and how it is performed.

Many people think that hairstrokes are a traditional eyebrow tattoo. This is not true. Hairstrokes are actually created individually. The practitioner is actually placing a semi-permanent tattoo on the surface of the skin stroke by stroke (looking like hair). The result is a very realistic, natural looking and soft appearing textured look.
Hairstrokes actually look like little hairs on your skin. It is not a block tattoo like traditional eyebrow tattoos (see below). I actually try not to say the word tattoo to people, since they get the image of an “old school” eyebrow tattoo:
